Report: Alfa Romeo’s CEO says the 4C can handle more power

The Alfa Romeo 4C may come with a modest 240hp 1.75L four-banger, but thanks to the 4C’s light weight chassis, none of those 240 horses go to waste. But that’s not all, according to AutomotiveNews, who recently spoke with the brand’s CEO, Harald Wester.

After speaking with the man himself, AN was able to learn that the 4C was built to handle more power.

Wester cited that the 4C’s current horsepower per liter figure was only at 134hp/L and that “there is space” for more oomph. Should there ever be a more powerful variant, larger brakes will have to be used. Otherwise, the chassis is stiff enough for more go-power.

What could this mean? A high-performance 4C with up to 400hp and a 0-60 time of four seconds flat may result, but that currently remains as a possibility.
