Report: Volkswagen Beetle lineup to expand with Bulli, coupe, and crossover

Volkswagen is continuing their niche binge as German media, AutoBild, reports that VW will be expanding the Beetle lineup to include a Bulli-like model, similarly to the concept, a coupe and even a crossover.

According to the report, the Beetle Bulli variant will be similar to the concept revealed in 2011 and should seat up to five passengers. So expect larger and boxier proportions. Additionally, its rumored that the Beetle could also get lifted, similarly to the Beetle Dune Concept from the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. 4Motion will be standard with the choice of a hybrid powertrain. Internal combustion propulsion should be provided by a range of three- and four-cylinder gas and diesel engines.

But wait…there’s more! A sporty Beetle may also be in the limelight and could sport up to 300hp and all-wheel drive. There will also be a choice to get the sporty Beetle with the GTD’s 2.0L turbodiesel four-banger…

Though, none of these models won’t be coming into fruition until 2019, which is a ways away.
