Report: Mercedes-Benz AMG GT to be phased out in 2020, to be replaced by new SLS

Despite the fact that the highly-anticipated Porsche 911-fighting Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has yet to be revealed, a report is in suggesting the car’s future–and it’s going to be a rather short one.

When the AMG GT goes on sale, it will stay in production until 2020 and will apparently be replaced by a new SLS then.

The report comes in fromĀ AutoCar, who also learned that the AMG GT might only come as a coupe. It will be powered by AMG’s latest 4.0L V8 with two turbochargers to develop 520hp while an entry level model is rumored to produce 480hp. We can definitely expect a Black Edition as well, estimated to produce around 580hp.

The entry level model will arrive later in 2016 while the Black Series will get the shortest life with a launch date in 2018.
