Report: BMW testing M2 with uprated N55 six-cylinder engine

BMW has been rumored recently to be working on an M2 to succeed the beloved 1-Series M-Coupe from last generation.

That said, a new report is in from enthusiast site, 2addicts.com, who learned that BMW is apparently testing some M2 coupe prototypes, with an uprated N55 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six. This is the same engine found in the current range-topping M235i, however in the latter, it produces 326hp. The M2 is supposedly expected to produce around 380hp. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are also involved with development.

A launch date is estimated sometime in 2016.
