Report: BMW preparing a recall over Chinese part issue with VANOS

Seasoned BMW enthusiasts will read this report perceiving irony with a big facepalm–AutomotiveNews reports that BMW is apparently preparing a recall over defective Chinese parts used in the VANOS variable-valve timing systems in their engines. For those who aren’t seasoned BMW enthusiasts, older BMW’s with lots of use have been known to develop VANOS variable valve-timing problems over time–you’d think they’d remedy the issue by now completely…

BMW hasn’t officially stated the recall just yet, or what specifically is involved. Though the VANOS issue is only isolated to the Chinese markets, it apparently could extend further than just Chinese-market BMWs.

Little else is known. But stay tuned as we get updated.
