Report: 2016 VW Passat may be given actual styling

In a bid to make just a few more fly off the shelf, Volkswagen is looking to turn up the wick a bit on the next Passat. For those of us with eyes, but are not in the market for a new Passat, this will be a welcome improvement. While this is definitely a logical progression for VW, the kneejerk question is why offer an attractive Passat next to the Passat CC?

Dr. Heinz Jakob Neußer, head of VW Powertrain Development told Car and Driver that the new Passat would get reasonably subtle styling changes. The car is due for it’s midcycle refresh, so all of this makes sense, but for a car that is currently this anonymous, any change could be a significant jump. After selling nearly a million cars in the first two months of this year, VW can afford to do this.
