Report: Ford will offer a Focus ST Diesel

Will we get it? Probably not, but that’s not the point. As more automakers start shoveling diesels into their performance cars, the trend has started trickling over to the United States where, in some cases, quick diesels have already made their splash in cars like the BMW 335d. The new Focus ST diesel is said to offer up 182 bhp and get up to 62 mph in 8 seconds. This performance sounds a bit weak, as it can be bested even by the beige, cream of wheat consuming pillar of reliability that is the Toyota Camry. So don’t despair just yet, there isn’t much to miss, perhaps.

The 2015 Focus ST gasoline model will keep the same 252 horsepower 2 liter EcoBoost four from the previous car. Currently offered over in the States is that engine with 270 ft-lbs of torque and a six speed manual pulling around a 3,223-lb five-door hatch, available with an “over the top” stripe, a reasonably flat torque band and the ability to relieve buyers of no less than $24,115.
