Honda releases Civic Natural Gas and Civic Hybrid for 2014

Honda has launched the green versions of their Civic: the Hybrid and the Compressed Natural Gas models. Yesterday we learned that they were killing off the Insight and the CR-Z, but these models have both gone on sale over here in the States. Available with a 7″ touchscreen, leather and a CVT, the Hybrid can be optioned out to near Mercedes CLA levels. $30,000 for a Honda Civic is quite a bit. Expected to return 45 MPG on the combined EPA cycle, the Civic Hybrid hits our shores with no manual transmission option, though these days, that is a good thing for efficiency.

The Civic Natural Gas offers 31 miles on the combined cycle to each gasoline gallon equivalent; also nudging $30K, the car comes with six speakers as part of the Leather package, which seems like a small quantity and without mention of the audio system manufacturer, a bit cheap as well, though most prospective buyers are not likely going to be splitting hairs over stereo system specs. Both cars are built in Greensburg, Indiana. For more information, check out the press release after the jump.
