Report: Toyota mulling a subcompact crossover to sit below RAV4

A new report is in from down yonder, where CarAdvice spoke to Toyota’s Australian product planning manager, Mark Dobson, who hinted at Toyota playing with the idea of a subcompact crossover to sit below the entry-level RAV4.

According to the report, Toyota has interest in the specific and growing niche market where the Japanese auto giant also found great potential in its market research. This is due to the fact of the multiple abilities that crossovers can offer, especially in countries where the popularity of the automobile is still growing amongst the masses.

Specifics weren’t shared and there wasn’t any indication of Toyota considering one for US soil. But we wouldn’t be surprised if they did as the subcompact market is also growing here stateside. In fact, because Toyota recently went as far as to expanding the Prius lineup, there could be room for a Prius-like crossover with extra ground clearance. Though in due time, as usual, we will find out.
