Report: Kia GT4 Stinger could hit showrooms in 2014

After speaking with some informed individuals with Kia, TopSpeed apparently received the scoop hinting that the South Korean automaker could be on the way to making a production version of the GT4 Stinger Concept, which was revealed at Detroit last month.

According to the tips, the exterior of the car has been finalized and it will look “nearly identical” to the concept showcased at the Cobo Center. The interior on the other hand, is still in the works.

Under the hood supposedly sits a 2.0L four-banger good for 315hp. There’s also a strong chance that the same Hyundai-sourced four-banger found in the Kia Optima, which makes 274hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, will be the engine made available, with some electronic tweaks to squeeze more power from the mill.

A launch in the ending quarter of 2014 is expected.
