Report: Mercedes C63 AMG to get twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8

BMW’s M3 has nearly gone back to its roots with a straight six, albeit one that suffers the embarrassment of forced induction, and now, it seems that Mercedes may be going the same way in terms of engine room space.  According a report from AutoExpress, we may see a 4 liter twin turbocharged V8, sharing concepts and possibly a flat plane crank with the existing 2 liter turbo four found in the CLA, among other cars.

Power levels should not be super far off the mark of the outgoing, naturally aspirated, 6.2 liter V8; 450-500 horsepower should put it in the range of the Lexus RC F/BMW M3/4/Infiniti Q50 Eau Route/Audi RS5/Cadillac CTS-V(anyone else jumping on this bandwagon?) Tobias Moers, AMG’s Product Chief uttered the following in an interview with AutoExpress: “You are now familiar with our 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine? Well you can imagine what happens when you put two of those together.” Admitedly, this may be a sketchy ruse, but it will likely be a fast, shiny, and shouty one by the time the hot new C comes out.
