In an interview, Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Jeep’s parent company, Fiat, asserted that he anticipates Jeep to sell over 1 million cars this year. Despite efforts by Jeep CEO, Mike Manley, to downplay this figure, it seems that Marchionne knows something that Manley doesn’t or he is simply attempting to suck in more investors. Manley calls the suggestion “a stretch” owing to a run of 568,317; 701,626; and 731,565 units from 2011 to 2013, respectively.
Where are the 260,000-odd additional sales going to come from? The Cherokee is out, and will be available on in the US, Europe and China. Stay tuned to see if Jeep magically picks up a 37% sales increase, or if oil prices rise significantly and, well, it just doesn’t happen.
