Photo Leak: The 2015 Ford Mustang gets showcased on the front cover of AutoWeek

Freshly introduced through backdoor channels, the 2015 Mustang is ready for viewing. Gone is the modernized ‘64-73 look, and gone is the traditional raft of naturally aspirated engines; the MY2015 ‘Stang packs a new 4-pot 2.3 liter turbocharged engine in addition to the 5-liter.

Fresh is the operative word for those with eyes and Mustang purists; the latter are assaulted with a combination of Fusion, Accord Coupe, Nissan Z-Car and 911. Each of these cars are very easy to taste individually, but the combination is not unlike cake and tacos; the two should not see the light of day in the same package.

Purists will note that despite the loss of 200 lbs over the previous model, the rear end is freshly fettled with independent suspension, which is part of an effort by Ford to make the car appeal to a larger market. Inside, things don’t improve significantly; yes there is more standard equipment and more options are available than in previous years, but the overall look and feel remains cheap and busy; not out of place for a high end, American rental car.
