Report: Dodge could shoehorn a Pentastar V6 into the Dart

AllPar.com reports that the Dodge Dart could be destined to receive Chrysler’s Pentastar V6 after all. As of now, the Dart can only be had from a series of Fiat-sourced turbocharged four-bangers, nicknamed the 1.4L FIRE MultiAir, the 2.4 Tigershark MultiAir, and the 2.0L Tigershark.

The most powerful out of the three is the 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir four-pot, sporting 184hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. In the sixer department, Chrysler’s Pentastar V6 can be had displacing 3.0L, 3.2L, and 3.6L. Though we only see the 3.6L mill, with the 3.2L debuting in the Jeep Cherokee. That one is good for 271hp and 239 lb-ft of twist.

Nobody is really sure as to what kind of model this would be branded as, since the preceding performance variant of Dodge’s compact was the Neon SRT-4, powered by a potent turbocharged inline-4. Making the V6 powered Dart could cause a ruckus amongst the loyal fans of the Neon SRT-4, who are just edging for a successor in the form of the current Dart.

Either way, only time will tell to see how this develops.
