Lexus teases facelifted 2014 CT hybrid, a sport version in the docket too?

Australia’s Motoring.com reports that Lexus is working on an even sportier version of the basic CT 200h hybrid. The current model is based off of the Toyota Prius, but offers a slightly more entertaining drive with some Lexus appointments. Not to mention, the Lexus looks measurably better.

Speaking with Lexus’s Mike Templin, word is that the Japanese luxury automaker is even contemplating a sedan variant to compete against the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the BMW 1-Series. However, the market has apparently shifted and such an idea is beginning to make less sense.

“You had the people who loved the CT’s hybrid powertrain, the markets that need that kind of powertrain, and the people who are eco friendly or want to save that money on gas and that’s great,” Templin said in an interview. “But we missed a segment of the market for people who want fast cars; because a lot of people liked the looks and liked the way it drove so they wanted something faster. So yeah sure in the future, I hope we can account for that.”

This is in relation to the Australian market, though it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect a CT F Sport perhaps on our shores. Do you think a CT F Sport would fly here? Let us know in the comments.

As of now, a facelifted CT is expected for the 2014 year, which was just recently teased before its debut at the up and coming LA Auto Show, Tokyo Motor Show, and now the Guangzhou Motor Show in China.
