Report: Cadillac One get’s an overview, see what “The Beast” is all about

Ever wondered how insane President Barack Obama’s own official state limousine Cadillac One, is? Well, AutoWeek recently got a sneak peak as to what exactly makes up “The Beast.”

Cadillac obviously has some say in the production of the limo, which takes its chassis and driveline from the Chevrolet Kodiak commercial truck. That means a robust V8 motor that provides enough go-power to motivate the 15,000lbs limo. Fuel economy? Not much of a worry, at 3.7 mpg US.

The weight obviously comes from the latest and greatest technology in protective armor and reinforcements. Costing nearly $1.5 million per unit, not only does the exterior receive armor plating, but the fuel tank is also protected in a special foam to prevent rupturing. Fire-suppression systems are integrated into the car and throughout, as are special locking mechanisms.
