Video: Watch Porsche explain how the 918 Spyder’s engine technology works
The Porsche 918 is one of the latest entrants to the super plug-in hybrid war, which is currently occupied by the Ferrari La Ferrari and the McLaren P1. And to showcase what the 918 is all about, Porsche released a video online briefly explaining how cutting-edge performance can be eco-friendly.

On paper, there isn’t much that is eco-friendly about the 918 on paper, what with its 4.6L V8, which produces 608hp. It is also mated to two electric motors for a combined maximum output of 887hp and 944 lb-ft of torque. That allows for a 0-62 time of 2.8 seconds for a top speed of 214 mph.
And while being batshit insane fast, the 918 Spyder is capable of 71-78 mpg on the US conversion while the 918 can travel up between 10-19 miles on battery power only for speeds up to 93 mph.
