Report: A BMW X4 M is unlikely due to the possibility of taking sales away from X6 M

BMW has been known to be in the works with a compact crossover to sit under the X5, called the X4. This comes after BMW realized the success they had pulled with the larger and more expensive X6. That said, if you were wondering as to whether or not BMW would produce an M version of said X4, the chances are slim.

This is due to the possibility that an X4 M could steal sales away from the high end X6 M crossover and thus, doesn’t make sense in the Roundel’s eyes.

The X4 is most likely to house the usual selection of forced induced four- and six-cylinder engines, both gas and diesel, combined with ZF’s latest eight-speed automatic.
