Report: Jeep is considering a SRT4 version of the Cherokee

Motoring.com.au reports that Chrysler may be having Jeep work on a SRT4 version of their latest Cherokee revival. Jeep already has a hot SRT version of its flagship Grand Cherokee SUV, known as the SRT8. So why shouldn’t the family’s baby brother follow suit?

As the first driving impressions have been rolling into the public sphere for interpretation, so far, consensus has agreed that the new Cherokee is an engaging crossover with a balanced chassis. And that’s what we like to hear. But because of this, there’s an increased likelihood that Jeep could actually proceed with upping the Cherokee’s ante.

“I think the chassis has a lot of legs to it,” Jeep’s head of international product planning, Steve Bartoli, told Motoring.com.au. “The suspension is really good, nothing’s impossible, especially with that platform. I think we have a lot of flexibility with it.”

Though as of now, Jeep is trying to figure out as to whether a Cherokee SRT4 is a viable business case.
