Report: Alfa Romeo’s 4C sports car to gain around 220lbs for the US spec model

AutomotiveNews of Europe reports that when Alfa Romeo’s 4C finally reaches out shores for production, the US-spec models will gain around 100kg or roughly 220lbs to its originally specified curb weight. This is due to the requirement of different crash and safety standards, which has dictated several changes to the 4C’s structure and fuel system. The increase in weight is a result.

Still, the Alfa Romeo 4C is still a lightweight sports car with the Euro model capped at 1,973lbs, dry weight. And an increase to 2,183lbs still keeps the overall weight low.

As a refresher, the Alfa Romeo 4C sports car is powered by a direct-injected 1750 Turbo Petro four-banger mated to Alfa’s patented Alfa TCT dual dry-clutch automatic.
