BREAKING: First official pictures of 2014 BMW i8 emerge w/ video

The month of September is here and that means the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show is just around the corner—next week to be specific. And due to the impending exposition, pictures of BMW’s highly-anticipated i8 supercar have emerged on the web via a Russian automobile website. Additionally, BMW themselves released a teaser on YouTube to confirm the sports hybrid’s debut.

Though of course, knowing the usual actions leading to an auto show reveal, BMW will most likely reveal the car completely over the web with lots of official pictures and a hefty press release. And teasers like these usually mean the worldly Internet debut is imminent.

Set to debut on September 10th, the BMW i8 is the next vehicle in BMW’s sustainable motoring program to reach production, after the i3 city car. Powered by a 1.5L TwinPower Turbo three-banger good for 231hp and 236 lb-ft of torque driving the rear wheels and an electric motor good for 131hp and 184 lb-ft of torque providing thrust for the front, the 2014 BMW i8 can produce a grand total of 362hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.

But until the full reveal, the teaser after the jump.
