Currently, the CrossBlue is deep in the research and development phase while Volkswagen is conducting some serious cost analysis to see if the crossover is a viable business case. Additionally, Volkswagen is ensuring that its North America-based assembly lines can handle the possible demand required for the production of the CrossBlue.
Reports also point to a possibility of it being manufactured next to the Passat in Chattanooga, Tennessee. That said, because the plant only manufactures the Passat for the time being, Volkswagen has to accommodate for the extra production if an approval for the CrossBlue has been made.
