Nissan announces 2014 changes, discontinues Altima coupe, no word on a replacement yet

In lieu of being more than half-way through the 2013 year, manufacturers have begun implementing 2014 model year changes and introductions to their lineups. An example of this would be Nissan, who recently released a press release specifying their changes for the new year.

While there are many designs and updates being applied to Nissan’s lineup for the 2014 year, the biggest change thus far has been the discontinuation of the Altima Coupe. No hints have been given regarding a successor, though Nissan did introduce the Altima coupe for the first time a year after the last generation’s sedan was unveiled. That said, there is a slim chance that we may see another Altima coupe.

Otherwise, several new models join Nissan’s lineup, including the all-new Versa Note hatchback, the NV200 Compact Cargo van, and the next generation Rogue compact crossover SUV.

For full details, check out Nissan’s press release after the jump.

Following a banner 2013 model year that saw the introduction of all-new generations of the Nissan Altima, Nissan Sentra and Nissan Pathfinder, the parade of innovative all-new designs continues for 2014. Leading the way is the right-sized Nissan NV200 Compact Cargo commercial van (on sale now), the stylish entry-level Nissan Versa Note hatchback (on sale now) and the next-generation Nissan Rogue compact SUV (coming late 2013).

Also, the previously announced Pathfinder Hybrid model joins the Pathfinder lineup in the fall. In addition, significant enhancements are offered in 2014 for Altima, Frontier, GT-R (including the limited production Track Edition and upcoming Special Edition Package), Versa Sedan, Xterra and 370Z NISMO.

The 2014 lineup also introduces the all-new NissanConnect℠ Apps smartphone integration platform on several models, including Altima and Sentra, with plans to expand throughout the entire portfolio.

Here is a top-line overview of the changes, followed by more complete “Fast Facts” product information. As always, stay tuned to NissanNews.com for the latest updates on Nissan products, pricing and other activities in the United States and around the world.

After revitalizing sales of the legendary Pathfinder nameplate with the 2013 introduction of an all-new fourth-generation design, Nissan’s iconic SUV takes another major step forward in the 2014 model year with the introduction of the first-ever Pathfinder Hybrid.

The hybrid system uses a Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System (one motor / two clutch parallel system) that efficiently manages power from both the electric motor and the gas engine. The 15 kW electric motor and gas engine work in tandem to provide performance equivalent to the non-hybrid Pathfinder’s 3.5-liter gasoline V6.
