Report: Infiniti delays production EVs to incorporate advancing technology

AutomotiveNews of Europe recently reported that Infiniti will be delaying the launch of their electric car as the brand seeks to incorporate more advanced technology into the vehicle. After speaking with Nissan’s head of global planning, Andy Palmer, word is that Infinifi and Nissan are still on the path of zero-emissions vehicles.

“Our heart is still in zero emissions,” Palmer told AN in a recent interview. “It’s still within our mid-term plan. There are some interesting advances in electric technology we hadn’t anticipated when we showed the LE, which, by delaying a little bit, we can incorporate into the car.”

The goal for Infiniti’s new EV is to adopt the ever advancing technology in terms of battery capacity and charging, especially with the growing advent of wireless induction charging and lithium-ion-based batteries.
