Report: Honda Civics in the near future to get “Earth Dreams” motors and tech for better fuel economy

If you may recall, Honda introduced their “Earth Dreams” marketing campaign, which in essence walks the same path as Mazda’s SkyActiv moniker, a way to describe the brand’s latest philosophy to cater to the tree-hugging lot. The “Earth Dreams” concept was first introduced in 2011, though much of the tech was left for the 2013 CVT-equipped Honda Accord. Now though, Honda will be introducing its latest line of Earth Dreams motors on the latest Civic.

This supposedly means the new Civics will have direct-injected four-bangers, according to an apparent confirmation from Honda’s executive vice president, Tetsuo Iwamura. Though there was no specification as to which Civic will be receiving the new engines.

Later on down the line, Iwamura also said that Honda will be introducing the redesigned Fit compact with the Earth Dreams tech in Japan later this fall.
