WorldCarFans reports via Germany’s BimmerToday.de that BMW will be supposedly launching its much-anticipated 2-Series coupe in Europe beginning March of 2014. A debut is expected to occur at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September with production beginning shortly thereafter in March of 2014.
A convertible version is also in the works, with both variants being rear-wheel drive as opposed to the next generation 1-Series’ change to front-wheel. BMW’s patented xDrive all-wheel drive system will also be optional.
A mix of diesel and gas turbo motors are expected, with the brunt of the selection being four-bangers, while the top-dog M235i gets the silky inline-six. We should also expect to see a range-topping ultimatum in the form of an M2, due sometime supposedly in 2015 for around $69,000.
No word on any specifics regarding North American-bound versions as of yet.
