WorldCarFans reports that Lotus has confirmed to be beginning production of its much-anticipated Exige S Roadster this summer after being debuted at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The 2014 Lotus Exige S, unlike previous Exige models, drops its supercharged Toyota four-banger for the Evora’s Toyota 3.5L V6, which is also crankshaft induced. for a total of 345hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. And that’s a lot of power for a car that’s going to weigh less than 2,500lbs.
Lotus says that the 2014 Exige S V6 can be fitted with the choice of either a six-speed manual or an optional sequential semi-automatic. The result, when fitted with the manual, is a 0-60 time of just 3.8 seconds for a top run of 145 mph. Fuel economy is said to average about 23.3 mpg US.
