Volkswagen announces Passat Wolfsburg Edition for the mid-2013 model year, starts at $23,495

Volkswagen happily announced that the Passat will be receiving a new Wolfsburg Edition spec for the mid-2013 period. The model will sit above the base S and mid-entry SE trim and will be geared towards offering options at a competitive price.

The 2013 Volkswagen Passat Wolfsburg Edition includes a six-speed auto, Bluetooth connectivity, a multi-function steering wheel, automatic headlights, power exterior mirrors and driver’s seat lumbar support. Also included are unique 16-inch wheels, V-TEX leatherette, heated front seats, satellite radio with iPod connectivity, and a power driver’s seat.

Refresher: The 2012 Volkswagen Passat is offered in three trim levels, S SE and SEL. Entry-level 2012 Passat models are powered by a 2.5L 5-cylinder engine making 170-hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Standard transmission choice include a 5-speed manual while an optional 6-speed automatic is available. Moving up, buyers can pick a 2.0 TDI Clean Diesel 4-cylinder unit making 140-hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission, the 2012 Passat TDI gets 43 mpg on the highway and a range of approximately 800 miles. The range-topping 2012 Volkswagen Passat is powered by a 3.6L VR6 units producing 280-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 6-speed DSG, the 2012 Passat VR6 will get 28 mpg on the highway. Prices will start around $19,995.

Herndon, VA – Volkswagen of America, Inc., announced today that it will offer a new, value-oriented edition of the Passat starting in mid-2013: the Passat Wolfsburg Edition. Sliding in between the new base S and the mid-level SE trims, the Volkswagen Passat Wolfsburg Edition offers a number of additional convenience features for a competitive price.

Building on the features of the well-equipped S model with a six-speed automatic transmission- which already includes Bluetooth® technology, multi-function steering wheel with audio and phone controls, automatic headlights, power exterior mirrors and driver’s seat lumbar support- the Passat Wolfsburg Edition adds distinctive 16-inch alloy wheels, perforated V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, satellite radio, and a Media Device-Interface (MDI) with an iPod® cable.

The 2013 Passat Wolfsburg Edition is priced at $23,495, and will go on sale in late Spring.
