Report: Next gen Volkswagen Scirocco to get completely new sheetmetal, will be “completely different” than current
Volkswagen is planning on stepping up its game with its much sought after Scirocco hatchback, according to CarAdvice.com of Australia. The automobile outlet reportedly spoke to Volkswagen Group’s current head of design, Walter de Silva, at the New York International Auto Show not too long ago, and he said that the next generation Scirocco will have a completely different body.

“It must be completely different. Completely,” de Silva told CarAdvice.com. “We don’t want to repeat the body style of the Scirocco, we want to change that.”
The current Scirocco, which is sold abroad and not on US soil, is currently based off of the previous generation Golf and while that is visible, there are very noticeable differences between the two visually. Volkswagen seeks to make the Scirocco more unique.
Time frame? de Silva said that we could expect an all-new Scirocco by the middle of this decade. But at the moment, it’s a work in progress.
