MotorTrend reports that Chevrolet may be considering a cheaper variant of the beloved sports coupe for the 2015 model year.

The “lesser” Corvette will ditch the Stingray badge and will get a smaller 5.3L V8 good for a little under 400hp, versus the Stingray’s 450hp 6.2L V8. Chevrolet did once ponder about the possibility of a twin-turbo V6. However, there wasn’t enough of an increase in the fuel economy for it to make sense.

Other differences include styling cues, which are said to be less dramatic on the cheaper Vette versus the Stingray. So that means a new front fascia, front fender, and rear diffuser.

MotorTrend predicts that pricing might dip below $50,000, which will increase the value of the Corvette even more. And this is based off of the current 2013 Corvette C6’s base price of $50,595.
