Video: Volkswagen teases 4MOTION MK7 Golf for EU

For the first time ever in history, Volkswagen has introduced 4MOTION all-wheel drive for the new nonperformance MK7 Golf. Prior to this, the only way to get a 4MOTION Golf was if you dollied up big bucks for the R versions of some sort. But now, the seventh generation Golf can now have power driven to all four wheels without the need of a high performance edition.

The system is an enhanced Haldex system that is as bang up to date as can be, with VW claiming it as one of the “most modern and efficient systems” in the world.

In Europe, 4MOTION will only be available with two TDI turbodiesels: a 1.6L TDI good for 105hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.0L TDI good for 150hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.

No word on a US bound version just yet and for the European lot, 4MOTION will require an extra 1,800 EUR over the original price.
