2013 Detroit: 2014 Acura MDX Prototype shows fresher look, production model coming this year

Today at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show Acura debuted the 2014 MDX concept, a 7-passenger luxury SUV.

Expected to launch mid-2013, the 2014 Acura MDX features design elements such as “Aero Sculpture” styling, Acura Jewel Eye LED headlights, and an arching roofline 1.5-inches lower then its predecessor. The concept’s interior is still under development, but is expected to be more spacious then the outgoing MDX with a focus on comfort and keeping the cabin quiet.

The chassis for the concept was developed to me more lightweight and rigid, and it is powered by a brand new 3.5-liter direct-injected i-VTEC SOHC V6 with Variable Cylinder Management.

Acura will also be adding all next-generation technology, including safety features like the Advanced Compatibility Engineering and Lane Keeping Assist System, and infotainment features such as AcuraLink and an ELS audio system.

Production is being moved from Alliston, Ontario to Lincoln Alabama. Pricing information has not yet been released.
