Honda has reportedly announced that they will be kicking off production for its all-new 2014 Accord Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid at its Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio very soon.
The new 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid utilizes the brand’s bespoke two-motor hybrid system, which consists of a 2.0L Atkinson cycle inline-4 mated to a 124-kW traction electric motor—a device that can also double as an electronically controlled CVT (continuously variable transmission). A second 105-kW motor exists for power generation, for a total peak output of 196hp.
The regular 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is estimated to achieve 49/45 mpg city/highway, though official figures are still being withheld. The Accord Plug-In Hybrid is also expected to achieve 115 MPGe with a total range of 13 miles on electric power only.
Pricing hasn’t been announced for the Accord Hybrid, but the Accord PHEV will go on sale on January 15th in New York and California starting at $40470.
