Volkswagen Polo R WRC Street limited to 2,500 units, pumps out 217-hp

At the 2012 Wörthersee meeting, Volkswagen unveiled a special Polo R WRC Concept, of which it has now decided to offer a limited production edition.

Known as the Volkswagen Polo R WRC Street, the model is powered by the GTI’s 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo making 217-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission allowing for a 0 to 62 mph time of 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 151 mph.

Of course, there are some visual upgrades including a new front spoiler with larger intakes, a rear diffused a roof spoiler and R and WRC badges.

Production will be limited to 2,500 units – all allocated for Europe.
