2013 Lamborghini Gallardo is the last one, successor on the way

The Lamborghini Gallardo has been around for a little more than decade and it’s finally time to put it to rest. Lamborghini has confirmed, with a short video and a mini website, that the 2013 model year Gallardo will be the last one.

“It’s been a crazy beautiful ride for the past decade,” Lamborghini said in a statement. “One we’ve all enjoyed. And now the last Gallardo is here, the final masterpiece of the collection. Wind in your hair, smile on your face, foot to the floor. Italy personified.”

A successor to the Gallardo is in the works and will have a brand new name, some new styling cues inspired by the Aventador and apparently RWD is also under consideration.

No word on what engine will power the successor but the 2013 model year carries on unchanged with the 5.2 liter V10 engine making 552-hp.
