Report: Mazda working on CX-3 compact crossover

According to new reports, Mazda is working on small SUV that will be based on the next-generation Mazda2 hatchback. Expected to carry the CX-3 badge, the model will compete with the likes of the Ford Fiesta-based EcoSport crossover and the Nissan Juke.

You can definitely expect Mazda engineers to use the company’s SkyActiv technologies. Since in this class two-wheel-drive crossovers outsell the AWD models, the CX-3 may be offered as a front-wheel-drive model only.

Expected launch date is sometime in 2014.
