2012 LA: Audi A8, A6, A7 and Q5 get TDI variants for the States

The Audi A8, A6, A7 and Q5 have landed in the United States with a diesel engine under the hood.

All the Audi models will carry a 3.0 liter diesel unit making 240-hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. No fuel-economy or performance figures were released but we do have some details on the A8 TDI – 0 to 60 mph for the Audi A8 TDI comes in 3.4 seconds with estimated fuel-economy figures coming in at 24/36 mpg (city/highway). According to Audi, each TDI model delivers up to 30% better fuel economy and 30% lower carbon dioxide emissions than gasoline engines.
