2012 SEMA: Mazda CX-5 Urban Concept gets stealthy looks
The Mazda CX-5 Urban is a concept car that focuses entirely on exterior styling modifications.
Although that was the concentration of the Urban concept the model is subtle yet striking, with a fresh and interesting visual appeal. Drawing inspiration form fashion and architecture, the Mazda Design team developed a custom paint process that results in multi-dimensional shadows in triangular patterns that mimic the model’s lines. These patterns can only be seen in certain lighting.

Two separate shades of Black Mica have been used for additional detailing such as pinstripes, wheel accents and around the headlamps and grille.
Wheel flare extensions have been added to make room for the 22-inch Ace Alloy Scorpio matte black wheels, which are wrapped in Nitto NT420’s sized 295/30R20. Mazda also added a Racing Beat dual exhaust.
Both innovative and visually interesting, Mazda really nailed this concept.
