Brabus takes on the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

Another beautifully refined tuning kit has been released from Brabus, this time just three days behind the European release for the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake.

Brabus encompasses all the CLS variants in its kits, with specialized packages for certain variants. For the bulk of the lineup, the tuning house provides sport springs, stainless-steel quad exhaust systems, a clutch-type limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent, semi-active airmatic air suspension with an electronic lowering module that drops the ride height by 35mm all the way around.

Exterior mods include front fascia attachments with integrated LED daytime running lights, a front spoiler, side skirts with integrated entrance lights and sport fenders. Wheels are also offered sized in a range from 8.5Jx17 10.5Jx20 with tires sized at 255.30 ZR 20 up front and 295/25 ZR 20 in the rear for the 10.5Jx20.

The tuning house doesn’t leave out the interior extras either, with logoed scuff plates, custom upholstery, aluminum trims and different speedometers.

AMG variants get a specific front lip spoiler for under the front fascia, with a Brabus logo backlit, and custom fender attachments for the CLS 63 AMG.

As for the CLS 63 AMG, Brabus swaps out the ECU and adds a water-to-air intercooler powered by an auxiliary electric pump. This kicks horsepower up from 518hp to 610hp, with a boost in torque up to 737 lb-ft of torque. This provides a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a 200mph top speed.

The CLS 63 gets a special sports exhaust system that offers two modes that provide two different exhaust notes. Operating off of a butterfly valve, it allows the driver to switch between a “Sport” mode, the louder of the two, and a quitter “Coming Home” mode.

Taking a look at the CLS 500, Brabus gives the 4.7-liter V8 petrol 493hp and 531 lb-ft of torque, up from 402hp, to provide a 186mph top speed from the B50 package.

Turning to the CLS 350 CDI BlueEfficiency, this V6 diesel gets an Eco PowerXtra D6S
Kit with two stages offered up from the transmission kit for the 7G-tronic plus automatic gearbox.

Mercedes’ diesel four-banger, the CLS 250 CDI BlueEfficiency gets the Eco PowerXtra D4 performance kit, which provides 232hp, up from 201hp and 446 lb-ft of torque.

Brabus has given new meaning to the ’comprehensive package’.
