Porsche unveils 2013 Cayenne S Diesel ahead of Paris debut

The latest and greatest Porsche Cayenne was just released last year in 2011. So to add another model to the Cayenne’s lineup, Porsche has just officially unveiled the latest Cayenne S Diesel for its home market.

Of course, powering this beastly brute is a 4.2L twin-turbocharged diesel V8 producing 382hp and a metal twisting 627 lb-ft of torque. Channeled to all four wheels through what will most likely be an eight-speed automatic (Porsche did not disclose), 0-60 should tick over in just 5.7 seconds with the top speed setting in at 156 mph. That makes the 2013 Porsche Cayenne S Diesel the most powerful diesel SUV model on the market.

The benefit to all that torque, a European-combined fuel economy rating of 28.34 mpg. What a balance of performance and economy! Porsche was also able to incorporate their auto stop/start function, making it the world’s only SUV with a diesel V8 to do so on the market.

The Porsche Cayenne S Diesel is expected to hit the market in January of next year and is expected to command €77,684 in Germany, or $100,157 US with today’s conversion rates. There was no word about a US-bound version, but it wouldn’t seem unlikely.
