Report: 2013 Audi A8 4.0T rated at 17/28 mpg city/highway

Not too long ago, we learned that Audi will be reuniting the V8 with the non-S version of the A8. The mill is a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8, which takes the roll as a step up from the original base crankshaft-induced 3.0L V6.

And just recently, CARandDRIVER discovered the new V8-powered A8’s fuel economy figures. They ring out to be 17/28 city/highway for the short wheelbase A8 4.0T. Subtract one city and two highway mpg’s for the long wheelbase A8 4.0T, which ticks in at 16/26 city/highway.

To note the impressive, the short wheelbase’s highway figure mates that of the six-cylinder version. So if you yearn for Audi’s sexy V8, then you shouldn’t have to worry too much about fuel economy penalizing you too much, granted you don’t have heavy foot.
