Report: Lexus planning BMW X3 rival

According to a new report, Lexus has plans to build a compact SUV that will compete with the likes of the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. AutoCar states that Mark Templin, the general manager of Lexus’s US operation, hinted at a ‘sub-RX SUV’ that would be the most likely new addition to the the brand.

Templin didn’t provide any concrete details and said that Lexus is in no rush to expand its offerings.

So when can you expect to see this new compact Lexus SUV? Sometime in 2015. What you can definitely expect to see is a hybrid version of the model.

By 2014 or 2015, Lexus expects to have at least 8 hybrids in its global line-up.
