“The Fiesta is the next to get the [ST] treatment,” Steve Ling told AutoGuide at a Ford event in Laguna Seca. Ling is Ford’s marketing manager.

The Fiesta ST was first seen at this past Geneva Motor Show as a production ready model for European markets. At the time, the Fiesta ST was not approved for other regions just yet. But that has obviously changed now.

The new Ford Fiesta ST will receive the same torque vectoring control system in the new Focus ST, Ling also said. It will utilize a combination of an electronic limited slip differential that also uses the brakes to slow the inside wheel in a corner. An electronic steering wheel system will also be used to eliminate torque steer. Lastly, the engine expected to find way into the Fiesta ST is Ford’s new 1.6L EcoBoost four-banger, good for 180hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. It will be the most powerful subcompact on the market.
