2013 Range Rover officially unveiled, loses a lot of weight

Following a little leak earlier today, Land Rover has just taken the wraps off of the new 2013 Range Rover. The new 2013 Range Rover is now said to be more capable, lighter, stronger than ever before.

Big news here is that the 2013 Range Rover has been designed and engineered on an all-aluminum unibody structure that is 39 percent lighter than the outgoing steel body. This allowed Land Rover to knock off a total weight of up to 926lbs, depending on market and specifications. The US-Spec vehicle with a naturally-aspirated 5.0 liter V8 will be 700 lbs lighter than the outgoing model.

“The new Range Rover preserves the essential, unique character of the vehicle – that special blend of luxury, performance and unmatched all-terrain capability,” said John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director. “However, its clean sheet design and revolutionary lightweight construction have enabled us to transform the experience for luxury vehicle customers, with a step change in comfort, refinement and handling.”

On the inside, the new 2013 Range Rover receives a bunch of upgrades and over 4.7 inches more legroom than the outgoing model.

U.S. delivers of the 2013 Range Rover Evoque will start in Dec. 2012.
