Report: Production Renault Alpine to be built by Lotus

Before we get into this you have to understand some connections here. The Renault-Nissan Alliance is a strategic Fraench-Japanese partnership between Renault, which based in Paris, France and Nissan, based in Yokohama, Japan. Together the two sell more than one in 10 cars worldwide.

Now, you saw the Infiniti EMERG-E recently at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and have been informed that the car will be built by Lotus on the Evora platform.

Word on the street now is that the production version of the Renault Alpine will also be built by Lotus in the same way the EMERG-E is.

The Renault Alpine will be a mid or rear-engined sports car. Renault plans on only selling a few thousand units a year.
