Report: Rolls-Royce working on performance Coupe based on Ghost
Rolls-Royce is working on the final developments on a new Ghost-based coupe, according to a report by AutoCar. The model will be the first performance model to carry the Rolls-Royce badge and will be pinned against competitors like the Bentley Continental GT and some models in the Aston Martin lineup.
Power for the unnamed coupe is expected to come from a tuned version of the 6.2 liter turbocharged V12 used in the Ghost sedan. The engine should pump around 600-hp and will be mated to rear-wheel-drive architectures and a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
0 to 62 mph is expected to come really quick along with a top speed of 155 mph.
No word on what Rolls-Royce plans on calling the model but potential names being thrown around include Corniche and Camaruge. Dawn, Wraith, Cloud, Shadow and Spirit among them as well.
The Rolls-Royce Coupe will debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and will go into production later that summer.
