Report: New Aston Martin Rapide to get V12 from Vanquish, a slight redesign

Now that Aston Martin has completed the successor to the DBS, the new 2013 Vanquish, the company is hard at work on the revised version of the Rapide sedan due next year.

Insiders say that the next-generation Aston Martin Rapide sedan will get a V12 from the Vanquish. The 6.0 liter V12 engine is good for producing 565-hp at 6,750 rpm with a maximum torque of 457 lb-ft at 5,500 rpm.

Engineers are testing whether the Rapide’s current chassis, brakes and other components can handle the extra power otherwise they will slightly detune the engine.

Design wise, the new Aston Martin Rapide will take some design cues from the new Vanquish including the C-shaped taillights.
