Report: Hotter Hyundai Veloster Turbo a la R-Spec could be coming
Automotive journalists all over the world have been voicing a fairly common perspective on Hyundai’s Veloster Turbo: it’s a sporty car with great value, though it lags behind a specific group in the hot hatch world. That group would be the serious big dogs, such as the Volkswagen GTi and the MazdaSpeed3.

That said, it seems Hyundai seeks to address this as a new report from MotorAuthority states that Hyundai may be considering a hotter version of the Veloster Turbo a la R-Spec, much like its Genesis Coupe.
According to the MA, who supposedly spoke to an anonymous source within Hyundai, the brand made the Veloster Turbo the way it is intentionally. The reason being was to allow for another higher-performance variant.
If this all rings to be true, expect a lower, stiffer suspension, and perhaps an independent rear suspension setup versus the Veloster Turbo’s current V-beam rear suspension. Also expect more power out of the Turbo’s 1.6L four-cylinder.
