2013 Audi R8 unveiled, gets a very sexy facelift

Audi has unveiled the 2013 R8 supercar, which will start rolling off the production line to European customers at the end of 2012. Instead of a complete redesign, the new 2013 model year R8 gets a nice facelift and boy does it look superb. The most outstanding feature are the LED headlights and the new rear indicator lights with dynamicized display are standard equipment on all variants of the new R8

The entry level 2013 Audi R8 is powered by a 4.2 FSI V8 engine making 430-hp at 7,900 with a maximum torque of 317 lb-ft between 4,500 and 6,000 rpm. Mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission, 0 to 62 mph comes in just 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph. The manual transmission allows for 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds. The Audi R8 V8 Spyder goes from 0 to 62 mph 4.5 seconds with the S tronic and 4.8 seconds with the manual.

The Audi R8 V10 makes 525-hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 391 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm. The 2013 Audi R8 V10 Coupe with the S tronic runs from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 195 mph. With a manual the figure drops to 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph. The 2013 Audi R8 V10 Spyder goes from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds with a S tronic (top sped of 193 mph) and 4.1 seconds with the manual (top  speed of 194 mph).

Audi says that this time around the two tailpipes contain flaps; they open during sharp acceleration to produce a fuller sound.

Fuel-economy for the 2013 Audi R8 V8 comes in at an estimated 19 mpg. The new R8 V10 gets an estimated 18 mpg.
