Audi shows off pics of first Audi RS5s to hit US shores

We learned earlier this year at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show that Audi was going to bring their hot RS5 to the United States, though in very limited numbers. To add, the RS5 was scheduled for a spring of 2012-launch date. So, because it’s July, Audi has just shared some pictures of the first wave of US-bound RS5’s on their Facebook fan page.

As a refresher, the potent Audi RS5 comes with the brand’s signature 4.2L V8, which is reworked to give 450hp and 317 lb-ft of torque, all channeled through a seven-speed dual-clutch cog swapper via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. Speaking of which, for better handling characteristics, the Quattro system divides the torque 40/60 front/rear. As a result, the RS5 will sprint to 60 with little drama in 4.6 seconds for a top run of 174 mph. For all comparative purposes, BMW’s M3 produces 414hp and Mercedes-Benz’s C63 AMG churns out 451hp.
